The City Biathlon was a unique Biathlon event that took place in the years 2005 to 2014 in Püttlingen in the Saarland: Major sporting event with several world and Olympic champions as well as live shooting on an original 50 m small-calibre shooting range right in the city centre. The exciting event with large supporting programme has attracted up to 20,000 spectators each year, and was broadcast live on both national and international television. It is one of the only venues where fans are within such close reach to the world´s best athletes in this discipline. It is here where several Olympic, world champions and World Cup winners gathered for a unique tournament, and top athletes such as Kati Wilhelm and Michael Greis even completed their farewell race.
In the year 2018, a new host city was found for this special event with the Hessian state capital of Wiesbaden.
